In Memorandum

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death on 21st December 2017 of former performing member Peter Martin. Peter's powerful but sensitive bass-baritone voice and strong stage presence made him an ever-present force throughout the 1980's, well-suited to such principal roles as Hassi in 'The Desert Song' (1983), Dr.Falke in 'Die Fledermaus' (1989) and Professor Higgins in 'My Fair Lady' (1990), as well as the role for which he is perhaps best remembered - Tevye in Lowestoft Players' production of 'Fiddler on the Roof'. Peter's active involvement with the Society decreased in the 90's, but he gave a memorable performance as the Wazir of Police in 'Kismet' (1997) and starred as the Voice of Audrey in 'Little Shop of Horrors' in 2006, as well as being Stage Manager for 'The Sound of Music' in 2002. His final appearance was as Arvid Abernathy in 'Guys & Dolls' in 2010.

His funeral and memorial service was held at the Waveney Memorial Crematorium, Ellough nr. Beccles on 16th January, when more than a dozen current and former WLOG members were present to celebrate Peter's life. We extend our condolences and best wishes to his wife, Pam (a Vice-President of the Society), and family.

WLOG '100' Club

To help raise funds for our Group, WLOG’s '100' Club is a monthly draw, which offers participants the opportunity to win cash prizes every month – and those prizes get even bigger in June and December. It costs just £2 for one ‘share’ each month – with no limit on the number of 'shares' someone can buy.

So if you fancy taking part – just contact one of our Committee members. You don't have to be member of WLOG to join the '100' Club, so why not get the family, friends and others to take part as well.
